[Eng Sub] Homeland’s Fragrance 故乡香- Wallace Chung

Here’s the other calendar giveaway winner, SukiBlosoom!

Hello all, Suki here. I wanted to take this time to say what a nice little community for Wallace international English-speaking fans. I’m not as active online anymore, but I sure look forward to Wallace’s monthly recaps thanks to Chewywon, Peanuts, and Haha (Her translations are off the charts!).

In addition, a huge ‘Thank You” to Amy who so kindly helped translate this wonderful song sung by Wallace. I kind of cheated by having my kind dear friend do all the hard work and translate the song, while I get the glory of getting the give-away ( a very professionally done calendar of Wallace). Don’t worry, I told her I’ll make it up to her. I am willing to be her slave when she needs an extra hand.

Homeland’s Fragrance 故乡香
Singer: Wallace Chung
Lyrics: Li Chun
Melody: Zhou Zhi Yong
Theme Song to the 2017 C-drama “The Stand-In”

Translation by Amy YT ST

[Red Highlighted] - Cantonese
[Italicize] - Translator’s notes

“The moonlight shines, illuminating the ground
Child, you should obediently sleep on the bed
(T/N: Lyrics of a Cantonese lullaby)

The flowers of my homeland bloom abundantly all over the wall

Flowers of spring, moon of autumn*, the fragrance lasts throughout all four seasons. [T/N: “flowers of spring, moon of autumn” is a Chinese idiom referring to beautiful scenery in spring and autumn, or referring to a beautiful period of time]
The waters of my homeland flow to the three rivers* [T/N: Referring to Yangtze River, Yellow River, and Lancang River]
The long sails cast a distant shadow, where is it turning towards?

The clouds of my homeland are like white robes
The winding lanes are bathed in heaven’s rays of light
The fragrance of my homeland is fragrant in my dreams
For I’ve left home for a long time and have yet to return

I sing one sound, my tears form two rows
My close relatives are far away, my homeland is fragrant
In my dreams I return, the night has not yet ended
The moonlight shines, illuminating the ground

The clouds of my homeland are like white robes
The winding lanes are bathed in the heaven’s rays of light
The fragrance of my homeland is fragrant in my dreams
For I’ve left home for a long time and have yet to return home

The moonlight shines, the moonlight shines

I sing one sound, my tears form two rows
My close relatives are far away, my homeland is fragrant
In my dreams I return, the night has not yet ended
The moonlight shines, illuminating the ground
The moonlight shines, illuminating the ground

[ As always be KIND do not take out these translations without giving credit to Amy YT ST. You can find her on Tumblr spazzing about her dramas. Currently she is helping translate the novel A Love So Beautiful (Yep, that super cute drama starring the OTP of the year Hu Yitian and Shen Yue). I’m still waiting for Wallace to have such explosive chemistry with a leading lady]
